The Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between the monarch and the Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued by the monarch’s Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, the palace described the claims as unfounded and misleading, stressing that there is no disagreement between the Olubadan and the Oyo State Governor.
The statement also clarified that the Olubadan did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony earlier scheduled for Friday, April 3.
According to the palace, the monarch remains in Ibadan, hale and hearty, and continues to carry out his traditional responsibilities.
Addressing the postponement of the ceremony, the palace explained that the three High Chiefs slated for coronation had formally notified the Olubadan of their inability to attend and requested a rescheduling.
This development, the statement added, has been duly communicated to the Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
The palace reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged the public to disregard any rumours suggesting a rift between the revered monarch and the state government.
