Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger global collaboration and sustained investment in health systems as the world marks the 2026 World Health Day.

In a statement commemorating the annual event, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the need for collective action in advancing global health, urging governments, institutions, and individuals to support science-driven solutions and partnerships aimed at building a healthier and more resilient world.

Highlighting the 2026 theme, “Together for Health: Stand with Science,” the First Lady noted that meaningful progress in healthcare depends on innovation and robust collaboration across countries and sectors. She acknowledged that scientific partnerships have played a critical role in overcoming numerous health challenges and remain essential in promoting healthier living worldwide.

Mrs. Tinubu also drew attention to the One Health approach, stressing that the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment are closely interconnected. According to her, embracing this integrated approach is vital to addressing current and emerging health threats effectively.

World Health Day is observed annually on April 7 to raise awareness of key global health issues and mobilize action to improve public health outcomes.
