Sanwo-Olu Urges Peace as 91 APC Aspirants Battle for 24 House of Reps Seats |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on aspirants, delegates, and party stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and in accordance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) constitution and electoral guidelines as the party prepares for its House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday.

In a statement issued ahead of the exercise, the governor appealed to all participants to uphold unity and democratic values throughout the process, describing the APC as a symbol of democratic ideals and national development.

“The primary election is a democratic process established to select credible candidates who will proudly fly the flag of our party in the forthcoming general elections,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor warned against actions and statements capable of fomenting division within the party, urging aspirants and their supporters to embrace peace, fairness, and sportsmanship before, during, and after the primaries. He added that the victory of any aspirant should be regarded as the collective victory of the APC family in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu equally called on party members to remain focused on strengthening the APC and delivering effective leadership and good governance to residents of the state.

The primaries are expected to be fiercely contested, with 91 aspirants vying for 24 House of Representatives seats across Lagos State. Three aspirants Mudashiru Obasa in Agege, Fuad Kayode Laguda in Surulere I, and Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo in Ifako-Ijaiye are reportedly running unopposed in their respective constituencies.

Oshodi-Isolo emerged as the most competitive zone, with a combined 16 aspirants across its two federal constituencies, while Lagos Mainland recorded seven aspirants.

Among the keenly anticipated contests is Mushin II, where Seye Oladejo will face off against Toyin Fayinka, and Somolu, which has produced a four-way battle involving former ALGON National Chairman Kolade Alabi, former council chairman Abdul-Hammed Salawu, former lawmaker Rotimi Olowo, and Mojisola Kassim.

In Oshodi-Isolo I, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola-Salako is contesting alongside several former council chairmen and other political figures in what promises to be one of the most closely watched contests of the exercise.

Other hotly contested primaries are anticipated in Ikeja, Lagos Island, Kosofe, Alimosho, Epe, and Eti-Osa constituencies, as the party moves to select candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
