Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnapped victims during ongoing military operations targeting a notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and members of his gang in Katsina State.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, disclosed the development in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the rescued victims were identified as Musa Yakuba, Sa’adu Dayi, Mukhtar Danja, and Salisu Danja. They regained their freedom during sustained military operations in areas believed to be strongholds of the criminal group.
Dr. Mu’azu said medical personnel promptly attended to the victims after their rescue, as they had sustained gunshot wounds while in captivity.
The Katsina State Government commended the courage, professionalism, and dedication of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation, noting that their efforts continue to yield positive results in the fight against banditry and kidnapping.
The government assured residents that security forces remain in pursuit of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements operating in the state.
It stressed that military operations would continue until those responsible for terrorizing innocent citizens are apprehended and brought to justice.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the government pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven anywhere in Katsina State.
