The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has launched the nationwide advocacy and sensitisation campaign of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), with activities scheduled to commence across all state police commands.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu.
The initiative is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s renewed commitment to proactive policing, community engagement and crime prevention through grassroots awareness, early intervention and strategic collaboration with key stakeholders.
According to the Force Headquarters, POCACOV serves as the flagship community policing initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at discouraging young people from engaging in cultism, drug abuse, violent crimes and other social vices.
The campaign will promote positive values while strengthening partnerships with schools, religious organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders to address the root causes of youth involvement in crime.
The police said the nationwide sensitisation programme reflects its commitment to preventive policing strategies designed to enhance public safety, protect young people from criminal influences and build safer communities across Nigeria.
