At Least 37 Students Still Missing After ISWAP Attack on Borno Secondary School |LAGOS EYE NEWS

At least 37 students remain unaccounted for following an attack by suspected ISWAP gunmen on a secondary school in Lassa, Borno State, in northeastern Nigeria, where students were writing examinations.

Officials confirmed that at least three people were killed during the attack, including a soldier and a teacher.

The Nigerian Army had initially announced that 10 students were rescued and only one person was still missing. However, local authorities later released an updated list indicating that 25 female students, 11 male students, and one staff member remain in captivity.

Borno State Commissioner for Education disclosed that eight individuals, including the school’s vice principal, have so far been rescued.

Kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly common across northern and central Nigeria, with armed groups and criminal gangs frequently targeting schools and communities.
