Abimbola Olawuyi, the widow of late investigative journalist and broadcaster Kola Olawuyi, has died after a brief illness.A family source confirmed that she passed away on Monday morning, bringing to an end nearly two decades of steadfast devotion to her family following the death of her husband.Her passing comes 19 years after the death of Kola Olawuyi, one of Southwest Nigeria’s most respected investigative broadcasters, renowned for his fearless journalism and commitment to exposing crime and social injustice.Kola Olawuyi gained national recognition through his investigative radio and television programmes, Iriri Aye and Nnkan Nbe, which highlighted issues including ritual killings, fraud, crime and other social vices. His work earned him widespread acclaim as a champion of justice and accountability.Following her husband’s death, Abimbola largely stayed away from public attention, dedicating herself to raising their four children and keeping the family united.A family member described her as a resilient and devoted mother whose strength sustained the household through years of hardship.”Abimbola has been the pillar of the family since Kola’s death. Her passing is deeply painful, and the children have now lost both parents.
