Fresh explosions have been reported across several parts of Iran, including areas surrounding the Bushehr nuclear power plant, following a new wave of United States military strikes.
According to Iranian state media, the attacks targeted multiple locations in Bushehr Province, including the perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear facility, a military base in the town of Choghadak, and a fishing pier in the southern part of the province.
Deputy Governor of Bushehr Province, Ehsan Jahanian, said the strikes occurred around noon and confirmed that no casualties had been reported at the time of filing this report.
The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) quoted Jahanian as saying the strike near the nuclear power plant took place several hours after the US military announced it had concluded its latest round of operations against Iran.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump described the latest military action as “retribution” for Iran’s recent retaliatory attacks, while Tehran has responded with strikes targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.
Meanwhile, Iran is also preparing for the burial of its late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, scheduled for Thursday.
The Bushehr nuclear facility has remained a sensitive site throughout the conflict. In April, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog warned that military operations near the plant posed a serious threat to nuclear safety and urged all parties to avoid attacks in the area.
Conflict monitoring organisation ACLED has previously documented four separate strikes near the Bushehr nuclear complex since the outbreak of the Iran war.
