Heavy Rain Batters Lagos, Wet Weekend Forecast as Thunderstorms Loom|LAGOS EYE NEWS

Heavy rainfall has continued to drench Lagos, with weather forecasts indicating that the downpour will persist through the early afternoon before gradually subsiding later in the day.

The latest weather update shows the current temperature at 25°C, with high humidity pushing the “feels like” temperature to 28°C.

Meteorological forecasts indicate a 100 percent probability of rainfall, with heavy showers expected to continue into the afternoon. Rainfall chances are projected to remain at 95 percent by 1:00 p.m. and 80 percent by 2:00 p.m., before easing to 50 percent by 3:00 p.m. and 30 percent by 4:00 p.m.

Forecasters expect conditions to improve slightly by 5:00 p.m., when skies are likely to become partly cloudy and temperatures rise marginally to 26°C.

Despite the expected break in rainfall later on Friday, the outlook suggests a wet weekend for Lagos. Thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, while rainfall is expected to continue into Tuesday. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 26°C and 28°C, with overnight lows of around 24°C.

Residents have been advised to exercise caution while travelling, avoid flooded roads and low-lying areas, and keep rain gear handy, as the persistent rainfall could lead to localized flooding, reduced visibility, and traffic congestion across parts of the state.
