The United Kingdom has revised its immigration policy, requiring nationals of 33 African countries to obtain a visa before entering or transiting through the UK.
Under the updated visa requirements, citizens of the affected countries must secure the appropriate visa regardless of whether they intend to visit, work, study, or simply pass through the United Kingdom.
The countries affected by the new policy are Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The updated requirements affect travellers from these nations seeking entry into or transit through the UK and are part of the country’s current immigration and border control measures.
