The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of popular Yoruba Nollywood actress and producer, Temitope “Tope” Osoba, at the age of 40.
Osoba’s passing comes barely a year after she made an inspiring return to acting following a successful battle with breast cancer, a journey that earned her widespread admiration within the entertainment industry and among her fans.
The actress had publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis after discovering a lump during a routine self-examination. She later underwent surgery and appealed to the public for financial support to complete her treatment.
Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that the cancer had not spread, and she was declared cancer-free before making a return to the movie industry in 2025.
Speaking after resuming her acting career, Osoba described her recovery as a life-changing experience.
«”I’m emerging stronger, more resilient, and more passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others,” she said.»
Tributes have continued to pour in on social media from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers, who have expressed shock and sadness over the actress’s reported death while celebrating her resilience, courage, and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
