The Lagos State Government will on Monday, September 7, 2026, commence consultations with residents and stakeholders as part of preparations for the 2027 State Budget.
The five-day Year 2027 Budget Consultative Forum is being organised by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget and will take place across the five divisions of the state.
The Ikeja Division will host the opening session at the Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi, from 10:00 a.m.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Ope George, is expected to lead management staff and officials of the ministry throughout the consultations across the five IBILE divisions — Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.
According to the state government, the annual consultation is aimed at promoting inclusive governance and shared prosperity by giving residents and stakeholders an opportunity to contribute their views, needs and aspirations to the state’s development priorities and fiscal planning for 2027.
Participants are expected to include government officials, traditional rulers, Community Development Committees and Associations, professional and religious bodies, civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, trade associations, youth and women groups, private-sector stakeholders, People Living With Disabilities and members of the public.
The forum will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to identify priority areas, articulate community needs and make recommendations that could influence policies, programmes and projects to be captured in the 2027 budget.
The government said the consultations were designed to deepen citizen participation in the budgetary process and ensure that residents’ concerns and aspirations inform development planning and resource allocation.
Members of the public who wish to participate virtually are required to indicate their interest and specify their division by sending an email to budget@lagosstate.gov.ng.
