The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has dismissed reports that the party and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), filed a petition challenging the outcome of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Campaign Council, in a statement signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, on Monday, described the reports as “false and mischievous.”
The council stated categorically that neither the APC nor Oyebamiji had filed any petition before the Election Petition Tribunal challenging the election result.
“The purported claim is therefore completely untrue and should be regarded as nothing more than a rumour being circulated by individuals seeking to mislead members of the public and create unnecessary tension,” the statement said.
The Campaign Council urged APC supporters, members of the public and the media to disregard the reports and refrain from giving credibility to unverified information capable of creating confusion.
It reaffirmed the commitment of the APC and Oyebamiji to lawful and democratic processes, saying they would continue to act responsibly in the interest of peace, stability and the people of Osun State.
The council also advised the public to rely on official statements from the APC and the Campaign Council regarding the party, its candidate and the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the election, with Oyebamiji finishing second.
