The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Integrated Transport, Park Management Bill, 2026, seeking to establish a structured framework for the administration of transportation, traffic management and motor parks across the state.
The bill was passed on Wednesday during plenary after scaling its third reading.
The legislation, sponsored by the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, followed extensive debate by lawmakers during its second reading.
Presenting the bill, Ibrahim said the proposed legislation would provide a comprehensive system for managing the transport sector, including motor parks, garages, traffic control and transport-related revenue collection.
He said the law would also strengthen accountability in the management of revenue generated from motor parks and help curb leakages in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.
A major provision of the bill is the digitalisation of the motor park ticketing system, which lawmakers said would promote transparency and improve the efficiency of revenue collection.
The legislation also seeks to tackle thuggery, violence, extortion and other unlawful activities associated with some motor parks and garages across Osun State.
Lawmakers said a clear legal framework was necessary to ensure peace, order and safety in motor parks, particularly amid recent disputes over the control and management of some parks in the state.
With its passage, the bill is expected to provide a statutory framework for the administration of motor parks, traffic-related activities, transport revenue and other operations within the sector.
The Speaker of the Assembly said the final copy of the bill would be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
If signed into law, the legislation will formally establish the proposed system for the management and regulation of Osun’s integrated transport and park operations.
