A 19-year-old man, Fawaz Oyedeji, has been sentenced to four years in prison in the United Kingdom for attempting to rob a motorist of a £72,500 Porsche Cayenne using an imitation firearm.

Oyedeji, who is from Greenwich, London, was sentenced at the Inner London Crown Court following his conviction for attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Oyedeji had posed as a prospective buyer after seeing an online advertisement for the luxury sports utility vehicle.

He arranged to meet the owner at the victim’s residence in Southwark, south London, on March 18, 2025, to inspect the vehicle.

After being shown around the Porsche, the pair reportedly sat in the front seats to discuss the possible sale when Oyedeji produced what appeared to be a firearm, pointed it at the owner and demanded the car keys.

However, the victim resisted the attempted robbery, forcing Oyedeji to abandon the vehicle and flee the scene.

The victim subsequently contacted the police, prompting an investigation involving CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, mobile phone data and forensic evidence.

Detectives established that the mobile phone used to arrange the vehicle inspection was linked to Oyedeji and had been in the vicinity of both his residence and the scene of the attempted robbery.

He was arrested at his home in Leonard Robbins Path, Greenwich, on March 20, 2025, less than 48 hours after the incident.

The Metropolitan Police said a jury at the Inner London Crown Court found Oyedeji guilty after just 26 minutes of deliberation.

Detective Constable Alex Long, who led the investigation, commended the victim for resisting the robbery despite being threatened with what appeared to be a genuine firearm.
