President Donald Trump has proposed replacing the term “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” with “Super Intelligence.”
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on September 22, 2026, Trump said the word “artificial” makes intelligence sound fake, arguing that the technology is “not fake” but “amazing.”
He said U.S. government documents would henceforth use “super intelligence” instead.
The proposal follows a poll Trump launched on September 19, in which he suggested Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence and Supreme Intelligence as alternatives to “Artificial Intelligence.”
However, “artificial intelligence” remains the established technical term globally. Trump’s statement represents a proposed government terminology/rebranding rather than a formal change to the name of the technology itself.
