Reality television star Phyna has defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing contest, knocking her out in the fourth round to claim the championship belt and a brand-new car.
The highly anticipated bout took place in Lagos in the early hours of Friday, October 2, following weeks of intense rivalry and exchanges between the two entertainers.
Phyna, who appeared slimmer than her opponent, relied on her speed, movement and quick punches from the opening round, keeping Nkechi Blessing on her toes.
However, the actress responded aggressively in the second round, moving forward and engaging Phyna in several exchanges as both fighters traded punches.
The third round saw a more cautious approach from the contestants, with neither fighter establishing a clear advantage as the contest remained closely contested.
The decisive moment came in the fourth round when Phyna landed a powerful punch that sent Nkechi Blessing crashing to the canvas.
The actress was reportedly unable to beat the referee’s count, prompting the official to end the contest and declare Phyna the winner by knockout.
Following her victory, Phyna received the championship belt and a brand-new car presented by one of the event’s promoters.
Speaking after the contest, the reality TV star said the knockout was part of her strategy from the beginning, explaining that she had planned to tire out her opponent before looking for an opportunity to deliver the decisive punch.
The boxing contest followed weeks of tension between the celebrities, whose rivalry attracted considerable attention on social media and intensified during promotional activities for the event.
Their disagreement had earlier escalated at a press event, where both entertainers exchanged heated words before their confrontation reportedly became physical and they were separated.
Shortly after securing the victory, Phyna turned her attention to another potential opponent, calling out Nollywood actress Etinosa for a possible celebrity boxing contest.
Etinosa subsequently entered the ring and accepted the challenge, raising the prospect of another celebrity showdown between the two entertainers, both of whom were described as “two Edo girls.”
