The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, identified as Taiye Majekodunmi, for allegedly transporting concealed firearms and ammunition in a loaf of bread in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
The suspect was reportedly arrested by police operatives at the Capa area of Oshodi during an intelligence-led operation.
According to the police, Majekodunmi was allegedly conveying the weapons for delivery to a recipient on the instructions of a man identified as Samuel.
Items recovered from the suspect included a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, four rounds of live 9mm ammunition and a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun.
The police said further investigations led to the recovery of an additional cut-to-size gun and 11 live cartridges allegedly linked to the suspect.
The Command disclosed that the teenager had made useful statements to investigators, adding that investigations into the case were ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended officers involved in the operation and appreciated members of the public for providing credible information that could assist security operations.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining public safety across Lagos State.
