The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the inauguration of the committee for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, saying the party was not officially informed about the event.
The state party chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, stated this in a statement, explaining that the APC only learnt about the inauguration through a list of appointed committee members shared on social media by Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the statement, the party was concerned that the notice came less than 12 hours before the inauguration, describing the arrangement as inappropriate for an important political exercise involving the President’s re-election bid.
Lawal said the process should have been properly coordinated with the APC leadership in Osun State to promote collaboration and prevent unnecessary misunderstandings.
The party welcomed the appointment of Governor Adeleke as the state coordinator of Tinubu’s re-election campaign but expressed concern that the manner in which the committee was inaugurated could create avoidable tension between the governor and the APC leadership.
The Osun APC reiterated its commitment to Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, adding that it remained willing to work with relevant political stakeholders to achieve the objective.
However, the party emphasised the need for proper consultation, official communication and respect for established party structures, noting that these were essential to maintaining unity and ensuring an effective campaign.
