Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has reportedly been rushed to hospital after collapsing at the club’s training ground on Friday, according to German media reports.
The 40-year-old Belgian manager was said to have collapsed at Bayern’s training facility, prompting an emergency medical response.
Reports indicate that Kompany had been battling a viral infection in recent days, which reportedly affected his mobility and worsened an existing hip problem.
The former Manchester City captain had also reportedly missed some training sessions and media commitments earlier in the week after doctors advised him to rest.
Bayern Munich in an official statement on Kompany’s health conditions:
“Vincent Kompany had to receive medical attention on Friday after collapsing during a training session of second team”.
“The first-team head coach had been watching the second team’s training session — Kompany is undergoing thorough examinations in hospital, remain under medical supervision”.
“Until further notice, his coaching staff will take charge of training and matchday operation”.
Max Eberl: “Vincent Kompany’s health is our top priority”.
“We at FC Bayern will do everything we can to ensure that he recovers quickly. Vinnie will receive all the necessary medical care and support, as well as all time he needs. His coaching staff, whom we trust completely, will take over his duties. All of us at FC Bayern wish Vinnie a speedy recovery”. ❤️🤍
