Tracka Nigeria has called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, to urgently intervene in the deplorable condition of Idi-Oro-Mushin Road, which it said has remained in disrepair for more than three years.

The organisation made the appeal in a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, citing deteriorating road surfaces, potholes, stagnant water and indiscriminate refuse disposal as major concerns affecting residents, motorists and businesses in the area.

Tracka is a community of active citizens who monitor the implementation of government projects in their communities, promoting accountability and encouraging improved public service delivery.

According to Tracka Nigeria, one lane of Idi-Oro-Mushin Road has remained in a terrible condition for over three years, making movement difficult for road users and raising concerns about public safety, sanitation and economic activities.

“Dear Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hon. Seyi Jakande, we call for your urgent intervention on the deplorable condition of the Idi-Oro-Mushin Road in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Lagos State, where the other lane has remained in a terrible state for over three years,” the statement said.

The organisation noted that the damaged sections of the road had forced motorists to manoeuvre around potholes and waterlogged areas, increasing the risk of vehicle damage, raising maintenance costs and contributing to traffic congestion.

It added that pedestrians also faced difficulties navigating muddy, unsafe and refuse-strewn sections of the road.

Tracka Nigeria further expressed concern over the accumulation of refuse along different stretches of the road, noting that some sections had reportedly been turned into dumpsites where waste remained uncleared for weeks.

According to the organisation, the situation could attract pests, obstruct drainage channels and increase the risk of flooding during rainfall.

It also warned that stagnant water and accumulated waste posed sanitation concerns and could expose residents to environmental health hazards.

Describing the situation as more than a mere inconvenience, Tracka Nigeria said the condition of the road raised concerns about public infrastructure maintenance and accountability.

“Residents deserve roads that are safe and passable, while businesses and commuters should not have to bear the consequences of prolonged neglect. Three years is far too long for a critical road corridor to remain in such a condition without a lasting solution,” the statement added.

The organisation called for immediate action from the Lagos State Government and the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA authorities, urging them to publicly commit to rehabilitating the road and addressing the refuse disposal problem.

Tracka Nigeria stressed that residents deserved functional infrastructure, a clean environment and public services that meet their everyday needs.
