Two suspected cases of Ebola disease have been identified in Nigeria’s North-East region, with both individuals reportedly isolated as health authorities begin investigations.
Contact tracing and identification of individuals who may have been exposed to the suspected cases are currently ongoing, while laboratory tests are being conducted to determine whether the individuals have contracted the virus.
However, the cases have not been confirmed as Ebola infections, as confirmation is subject to the outcome of laboratory investigations.
Members of the public have been urged to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe enhanced sanitation practices and comply with preventive health guidelines issued by public health authorities.
