Popular Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu, widely known for her hit song Omije Ojumi, has died.
Her death was confirmed on Tuesday evening by a source close to the singer’s family. No official statement has yet been released by the family, though further details are expected in the coming days.
Akinnanu had in recent months appealed publicly for prayers and spiritual support while battling a prolonged leg ailment.
In late 2025, a video circulated on social media showing the singer at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, where she was seen seated with her leg extended as prayers were offered for her recovery.
She was a well-known figure in Nigeria’s gospel music scene and was admired for her emotionally resonant worship songs.
