The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole following his recommendation for appointment to Nigeria’s Supreme Court by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed described the recommendation as a recognition of Justice Oyewole’s long service and experience in the judiciary, saying it would strengthen the Supreme Court’s capacity to deliver justice.
He said the judge’s career on the bench, spanning more than two decades, demonstrated integrity and professionalism, adding that his elevation was a source of pride for Osun State.
“I heartily congratulate Hon. Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole on his appointment to the bench of the Supreme Court,” the governor said. “His commitment to justice is well known, and his experience will be an asset to the nation’s highest court.”
Mr Adeleke expressed confidence that Justice Oyewole would perform effectively in his new role and urged him to continue to uphold high standards of fairness and judicial independence.
The NJC is responsible for recommending judicial appointments in Nigeria, subject to confirmation by the appropriate authorities.
