Nigerian pop singer Korede Bello has announced that he has converted to Christianity, marking a significant change in his religious life.
The artist, who was born and raised in a Muslim family, said he arrived at the decision after a period of personal reflection and study. In a message shared on his social media platforms, Korede Bello said he had begun reading the Bible independently and described the experience as transformative.
“Before you crucify me, please be aware that I am Christian and Christ has already died and crucified for me. So there’s no need, he said in a viral video.
“I searched for the truth and I have seen the light,” he wrote, adding that he was ready to begin a new chapter of his life as a Christian.
People close to the singer told local media that the decision followed months of private spiritual exploration rather than a sudden change. One associate, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the musician had become increasingly open about questions of faith and purpose in recent years.
Music industry observers say the announcement has generated widespread reaction online, with fans expressing a mix of support and surprise. Several prominent Christian figures and fellow entertainers also welcomed the decision in public messages, encouraging him on what they described as a personal faith journey.
Korede Bello, who rose to fame after signing with Mavin Records, has not indicated whether his conversion will influence his music, but sources say he intends to speak more openly about faith in future projects.
He has yet to grant a full interview on the matter, but his statement has continued to trend across Nigerian social media platforms, where discussions about religion and personal belief remain highly sensitive and deeply personal.
