A Niger State High Court sitting in Minna has sentenced 27-year-old Hussaini Suleiman to seven years in prison for raping an eight-year-old girl.
The court, presided over by Justice Binta Bawa, convicted Suleiman after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Suleiman was accused of raping the minor at his residence behind the Prison Quarters in Minna, Niger State.
The case was referred to the Niger State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on April 16, 2026, following a report of the incident.
According to the NSCDC, the convict admitted committing the offence during the investigation.
He was subsequently arraigned before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court, Minna, on September 10, 2026, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.
