The Kano State Censorship Board has ordered the immediate suspension of all entertainment centres across the state, including event centres, popularly known as gala houses, and Disc Jockey operators, ahead of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the board said the directive would take effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, and remain in force until the end of the holy month.
The board explained that the decision was taken to enable residents observe the Ramadan fast and carry out their religious activities in a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere.
It added that the date for reopening the affected centres, particularly for the Eid celebrations, would be announced at the appropriate time.
The agency called on all stakeholders to comply fully with the directive in line with the law establishing the board, noting that the measure forms part of its mandate to regulate entertainment activities in the state.
The board also prayed for a peaceful and healthy observance of Ramadan and asked God to grant residents the opportunity to witness and complete the blessed month in mercy and prosperity.
