The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off several establishments in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State for persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
The enforcement exercise, carried out by officials of the Agency, affected the following establishments: Proj Master International Consultant Nigeria Limited; Club 109; Comfort Inn Hotel; 6 Bliss Bar; So Place Hotel; Divine Global Ministry; CAC/Solution Garden; and XO By Ajilad Hotel all located within Ikorodu.
These establishments, comprising churches, bars, hotels, and construction-related facilities, were found guilty of non-compliance with LASEPA’s environmental regulations and directives, particularly, excessive noise emissions and failure to adhere to stipulated environmental standards.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the Agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.
He emphasized that the enforcement action became necessary following repeated warnings, monitoring, and failure of the affected establishments to comply with regulatory requirements.
Dr. Ajayi stated that noise pollution remains a serious environmental concern with its adverse effects on public health, safety, and general well-being. He noted that the Agency is committed to safeguarding the environment and ensuring that businesses operate within permissible environmental limits.
He further urged all establishments across Lagos State to obtain necessary environmental permits, install appropriate noise control measures, and strictly comply with environmental laws to avoid sanctions.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement across the State, warning that any individual or organization found violating environmental regulations will face appropriate legal consequences.
