The Lagos State Government has announced a 12-week traffic management plan to allow reconstruction work on part of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
In a statement, the government said the Federal Ministry of Works will carry out repairs on a section of the main carriageway between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop on the Lagos-bound lane. The work is scheduled to begin on 7 March 2026 and run until 30 May 2026.
During the period, the main carriageway from Super Bus-Stop to Ilepo Bus-Stop inbound to Lagos will be completely closed to traffic.
The government have outlined alternative routes for drivers travelling from Abeokuta and Sango Tollgate towards Lagos and Oshodi.
According to the statement, motorists will be diverted into the BRT corridor at Super Bus-Stop and are to exit at Pleasure Bus-Stop (Ilepo) to continue their journeys. An alternative route will take drivers through Ekoro Road, linking Old Otta Road via Alira Street and Abeokuta Street, reconnecting at Pleasure Bus-Stop. Drivers may also use the Abule Egba Underbridge to connect to Agege and proceed to their destinations.
Traffic travelling in the opposite direction, towards Abeokuta, will continue to have access on the unaffected carriageway, said the statement.
The government said emergency tow vehicles will be stationed within the BRT corridor to ensure swift clearance of broken-down vehicles and minimise disruption.
Motorists have been advised to remain patient, observe traffic signs and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor during the reconstruction period.
