The Court of Appeal of Nigeria sitting in Abuja is set to deliver its judgment on multiple appeals arising from the national elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2022.
A total of nine consolidated appeals are before the appellate court, all challenging the legitimacy and outcome of the party’s national convention.
Ahead of the proceedings, several PDP leaders from rival factions have arrived at the court premises. Among those present are members of the group led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and another faction headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Also seen at the court was the National Secretary of the Mohammed-led National Working Committee, Samuel Anyanwu, who exchanged pleasantries with Turaki before the commencement of the court session.
The ruling is expected to determine the legality of the convention and could have significant implications for the leadership structure of the opposition party.
More details are expected as the court delivers its verdict.
