The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments in the Satellite Town, Ikotun–Idimu Road, Ejigbo and Egbe Road areas of Lagos for persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
The enforcement operation, carried out by officials of the agency, affected five establishments: Power Exploits Ministry International, Kafe Mall, Mingles Hotel, Ojei Golden Gate and Fernando Global Products Limited.
The affected facilities comprising a church, shopping mall, hotel, bar and a shoe manufacturing company were shut down after being found guilty of non-compliance with LASEPA’s environmental regulations, particularly excessive noise emissions and failure to meet stipulated environmental standards.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.
Ajayi explained that the enforcement action became necessary after repeated warnings, monitoring and the failure of the affected establishments to comply with regulatory requirements.
He noted that noise pollution remains a major environmental concern due to its adverse effects on public health, safety and the general well-being of residents.
According to him, the agency remains committed to protecting the environment and ensuring that businesses operate within permissible environmental limits.
Ajayi also urged establishments across Lagos to obtain the required environmental permits, install appropriate noise control measures and strictly comply with environmental laws to avoid sanctions.
LASEPA reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement across the state, warning that individuals or organizations found violating environmental regulations would face appropriate legal consequences.
