El-Rufai Appears in Court Under Heavy Security Over Corruption Charges |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna under tight security for his arraignment on alleged corruption-related offences.

Security presence was significantly heightened around the court, with heavily armed operatives from multiple agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), deployed to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed charges against El-Rufai bordering on conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering in suit number FHC/KD/73/2026.

In a separate case, El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule are also facing charges at a Kaduna State High Court over alleged abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud.

Counsel to the former governor has challenged the legality of his arrest and detention by the ICPC, describing the action as unlawful.

El-Rufai, however, has denied all allegations, insisting that the investigation is politically motivated.
