There is a particular kind of politician that constituencies across Nigeria dream about but rarely find one who does not disappear after the election; one whose presence is felt not just in the chambers of power, but on the very streets, in the schools, and in the homes of the people who voted for him.

In Mushin Constituency 1, Lagos State, that politician has a name. He is Hon. Prince Nureni Ayinde Akinsanya, fondly called OSMAK, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts (Local), sponsor of landmark legislation, and the man his constituents proudly call “The Game Changer.”
As the 2027 general elections draw closer, OSMAK is on the march again. And this time, the people of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye are not just ready they are resolute. Their verdict is simple, clear, and unanimous: experience must count.
When Hon. Akinsanya was first elected to represent Mushin Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, many watched with cautious optimism. What unfolded over the years, however, silenced doubters and rewarded believers.

Inside the hallowed chambers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, OSMAK has emerged as one of the most vocal, engaged, and productive lawmakers of his generation. He co-sponsored several landmark bills and motions that today form part of the legal and regulatory architecture of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority Bill (2020) and the Cooperative Societies Law (2020) addressed economic governance at a critical time. In 2021 alone, he co-sponsored five major bills: the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency Bill; the Victim Assistance and Witness Protection Bill; the Lagos State Government Staff Housing Board Bill; the Lagos State Data Protection Bill; and the transformative Lagos State University of Science and Technology Bill legislation that directly expanded tertiary education access for Lagos residents.

Beyond bill sponsorship, Akinsanya has used his position on the floor of the House to initiate critical motions, including interventions on the alarming rate of building collapses in Lagos a public safety crisis that demanded urgent legislative attention. As Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts (Local), he has championed transparency, accountability, and audit quality in local government administration a role that underscores his commitment to clean governance at the grassroots level.
“I am happy to have been elected by the good people of Mushin Constituency 1, Lagos State, to represent them at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” he said, reflecting on his journey. “It is a great honour for me to have been elected to serve my people.”

These are not the words of a politician performing gratitude. For OSMAK, they are a statement of purpose one backed by a record that speaks louder than any campaign slogan.

WHEN REPRESENTATION COMES HOME: THE COMMUNITY IMPACT

The true measure of any lawmaker, however, is not found in legislative journals alone. It is found in the streets he rehabilitated, the students he empowered, the widows he remembered, and the youth he refused to abandon.
On this score, OSMAK’s record in Mushin Constituency 1 is extraordinary. For seven consecutive years, he has distributed free JAMB/UTME forms to indigent students across the constituency a programme that has now reached over 3,000 students. In 2026, the seventh edition of this initiative was held, with the addition of educational counselling by professional consultants who guide students on course selection and career relevance in the 21st-century economy. Scholarships for students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria have also been an integral part of this vision.
“Education is the greatest equaliser,” OSMAK has often said. “No child from Mushin Constituency 1 should miss a university opportunity because of poverty.”

This year, over 2,000 school bags loaded with exercise books, mathematical sets, and other essential items were distributed to pupils across all primary schools in Mushin Constituency 1 as part of his Back-to-School initiative. It is a gesture that may seem small in the corridors of Alausa but means the world to a nine-year-old student in Odi-Olowo preparing for the new academic session.
The complete renovation of Majolate Primary School, Onipanu, Ward C3, in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA stands as a testament to his belief that learning environments shape learning outcomes. Residents described the upgrade as “a morale booster for learners and staff alike.”

He has also facilitated the rehabilitation of Abiodun Street and the construction of Abiodun Primary School, physical infrastructure that outlives any political season.

EMPOWERMENT THAT TOUCHES EVERY LAYER OF SOCIETY

OSMAK’s empowerment philosophy is not selective; it is sweeping, deliberate, and consistent. Under his ₦20 million empowerment programme, automated boreholes fully equipped with power machines were installed at multiple locations across Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, addressing the perennial water crisis faced by residents. A dedicated borehole was also installed at Woro Igbira, Moshalasi Lane, Ilupeju, providing clean water access to a long-underserved community.

Six Korope vehicles were donated to constituents to support their livelihoods and small transport businesses representing a direct economic boost to working families. Religious centres across the constituency were also fumigated as part of a public health outreach initiative.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and Lagos State lockdown, when many Nigerians were left without income and government intervention was slow, OSMAK mobilised four phases of stimulus packages for residents of the constituency, ensuring that vulnerable families did not face the crisis alone. He also facilitated street lighting projects across various streets and markets.
Women, youth, widows, and the elderly have each benefited from regular empowerment programmes and food distribution initiatives. In addition, annual festive meat and rice distributions for elderly residents and women reflect a holistic approach to constituency service one that recognises that representation is not just about bills, but about lives.

His Ward Champions Cup initiative has channelled the energy of Mushin’s youth into competitive football, using sports as a vehicle for unity, discipline, and community pride.
“The greatest betrayal of representation is to win an election and then forget the people who sent you. I refuse to be that kind of lawmaker,” OSMAK has consistently stated.

He has also leveraged his connections at the federal, state, and local government levels to secure appointments for youths from Mushin Constituency 1 creating a steady pipeline of opportunity since the inception of his representation.

WHY 2027 IS NOT THE TIME FOR EXPERIMENTATION

As Lagos State charts an ambitious course towards becoming a smart city leveraging technology, urban planning, and governance reform to transform its infrastructure and economy the value of experienced, connected, and battle-tested lawmakers cannot be overstated. OSMAK is that lawmaker.

His legislative experience, established relationships within the executive arm, deep understanding of advocacy and lobbying for projects, and proven capacity to deliver make him uniquely positioned to continue advancing the interests of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye at a critical moment in Lagos’s development.
A new, inexperienced voice in the House would spend valuable time learning the ropes. Mushin Constituency 1 cannot afford that delay. The people need a lawmaker who already understands the system one who knows the right channels, the budget lines, and how to attract government presence to their communities.

The IDEAL Club; CAN; Muslim associations; Market Men and Women Associations; Indigenous Students Association; Mushin High School Old Students Association; Arandun Descendants Union (Friends of the Community); Inspiher Development and Empowerment Network (IDEN); Association of Real Estate Practitioners of Lagos Zone A; Lagos State Grinding Machine Operators and Owners Association; and several others have recognised his performance with distinguished awards.

Colleagues within the APC and the Lagos State House of Assembly regard him as one of the most outspoken, bold, and effective voices among their ranks. These are not mere honorary tributes they are endorsements of a legislative career built on substance.

THE VERDICT OF THE PEOPLE

In Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye across markets, streets, and homes the conversation about 2027 is already settled.
The people remember the JAMB forms that helped their children pursue higher education, including those preparing for examinations this week. They remember the school bags, the vehicles, the boreholes, the COVID-19 stimulus packages, the renovated schools, the ward football competitions, and the young people who secured government appointments through OSMAK’s intervention.

Their support is not based on sentiment it is grounded in evidence.
It is clear that a constituency that abandons a proven servant for an untested promise risks losing continuity. Mushin Constituency 1 understands this.
Hon. Prince Nureni Ayinde Akinsanya OSMAK is on the march again. And the people of Mushin Constituency 1 are marching beside him: eyes open, minds made up, and voices ready again, again, and again.

Experience must count. The Game Changer must return.
