The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the death of Ambassador-designate Mohammed Mahmud Lele, who passed away in Ankara, Türkiye, following a prolonged illness.
In an official statement, the Ministry confirmed that Lele, a seasoned career diplomat, was recently appointed as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Algeria before his untimely death.
Lele was widely regarded within diplomatic circles for his longstanding service and commitment to advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy interests. His career in the foreign service was marked by several key postings and contributions to international relations on behalf of the country.
While the Ministry has not released further medical details, it described his passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps.
