“NO OUTSIDER WILL DICTATE TO ME” – ADEBOYE DEFENDS FIRST LADY’S PASTORAL STATUS |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has firmly declared that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will retain her position as an ordained Assistant Pastor within the denomination, rejecting calls for her removal from clerical ranks.

During a meeting with Southwest regional workers on Saturday, immediately following the church’s Holy Ghost Service, Pastor Adeboye provided a robust defence of the First Lady’s ecclesiastical standing, emphasising the legitimacy and longevity of her ordination credentials.

Adeboye revealed that Mrs. Tinubu was ordained as an Assistant Pastor more than a decade ago well before her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, harboured presidential ambitions.

He underscored that the First Lady underwent the complete ordination process and has maintained full compliance with church regulations.

“There are three sins that, if committed, would cause RCCG to remove any ordained pastor or assistant pastor. She has not committed any offence,” Pastor Adeboye stated with conviction.
He further asserted the church’s independence from external interference, declaring emphatically: “No outsider will dictate to me what to do with my children. I will tell them to leave my children alone.”

The General Overseer signalled the church’s resolve against mounting pressure, vowing that “the church will not bow to external pressure calling for her removal.”

Addressing broader accusations of political alignment, Pastor Adeboye noted: “They call us a branch of APC, but it is in RCCG that you will find governors from different political parties.”

He outlined clear boundaries for political participation within the church, stating: “If anyone is criticising my children, do not join them. Any politician can worship in RCCG, but none will be given the microphone to speak, because our altar is not a campaign ground. Our duty is to pray for you and allow God to decide.”

Turning to the 2027 general elections, Pastor Adeboye emphasised divine sovereignty over political outcomes.

“What God will do in 2027 has already been determined by Him before you were born. Don’t let anybody argue with you; the will of God will be done. As regards 2027, all we will do is continue praying, because we know He answers prayers,” he affirmed.
