The Senate has confirmed the appointments of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Their confirmation followed a formal nomination request submitted to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.
The request was conveyed in a letter addressed to the upper chamber and read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Both nominees were subsequently screened by the Senate in line with constitutional provisions before being confirmed.
Joseph Tegbe’s nomination comes in the wake of the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office. Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional transformation.
Meanwhile, Sola Enikanolaiye was confirmed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs following his nomination by the President.
His appointment comes after earlier ministerial changes in the foreign affairs portfolio. Before his nomination, Enikanolaiye, who hails from Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
A career diplomat, Enikanolaiye brings over three decades of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service.
He has held several key positions, including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has served in various diplomatic missions in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
