Oyo Assembly Rejects Negotiation With Kidnappers, Calls for Stronger Security Measures|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Oyo State House of Assembly has rejected calls for the state government to negotiate with kidnappers responsible for the abduction of teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area.

Instead, lawmakers urged security agencies to intensify rescue operations and strengthen security measures to ensure the safe release of all victims and prevent future attacks on schools and communities across the state.

The Assembly also called for the establishment of a permanent military base in the affected area, comprehensive security audits of vulnerable schools, enhanced support for local security outfits, and accelerated efforts toward the implementation of state policing.

Speaking on the development, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said engaging in negotiations with kidnappers could encourage further criminal activities and increase the risk of similar attacks.

Ogundoyin stressed that government efforts should remain focused on rescue operations, intelligence gathering, and reinforcing security architecture across Oyo State to protect residents and educational institutions.
