The Lagos State Police Command has reassured residents that there is no verified intelligence indicating any planned attack on schools in the state following reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school warning of a possible bandit attack and abduction of students.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the Command had become aware of the reports and immediately commenced an assessment of the situation.
The police urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to remain calm, stressing that there is currently no credible information suggesting an imminent threat to any school or community in Lagos State.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has directed the implementation of enhanced security measures in the affected area and other strategic locations across the state.
The Command disclosed that police officers, working alongside other security agencies, have been deployed to safeguard schools, critical infrastructure, and communities to prevent any security breach.
“The Lagos State Police Command wishes to emphasise that Lagos State remains secure and that every lawful measure is being taken to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating or operating within the State,” the statement said.
The police also warned that any individual or group attempting to create fear, panic, or insecurity among residents would face the full weight of the law.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Command called on residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious activities.
Members of the public were encouraged to report suspicious persons, objects, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the continued safety, security, and well-being of residents across the state.
