The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally presented Certificates of Return to candidates who emerged victorious in the bye-elections conducted on June 20, 2026, across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Kano states.
The presentation ceremony was carried out on behalf of the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Joash Amupitan, by the National Commissioner supervising Rivers State, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the newly elected representatives and reminded them that the confidence reposed in them by the electorate comes with a responsibility to provide effective representation and responsive leadership.
She emphasized that the true measure of their success would be their commitment to advancing the interests and welfare of the people who entrusted them with the mandate to serve.
The National Commissioner also disclosed that similar presentations would be made to winners of the Zuru State Constituency election in Kebbi State and the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.
The event featured the participation of National Commissioners assigned to the various states and constituencies, who individually presented the Certificates of Return to the successful candidates, thereby completing the formal process of confirming their election victories
