The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in Osun State will begin on Wednesday, July 22, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, said the exercise is for eligible voters who registered, transferred their voter registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the commission, PVC distribution will take place at the state’s 332 Registration Areas from July 22 to July 28, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.
INEC said the exercise will then continue at its Local Government Area offices across the state from July 29 to August 7, also between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.
The commission reminded voters that PVC collection must be done in person, warning that collection by proxy is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the law.
INEC urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.
The electoral body also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State on August 15, 2026.
