An American shark biologist has earned a place in the Guinness World Records after covering her body with 106 shark tattoos, turning a childhood fear into a lifelong passion.
Emily Morrison, from the United States, holds the record for the most sharks tattooed on the body (female). Her collection stretches from her feet to her neck, with each tattoo representing her fascination with one of the ocean’s most misunderstood predators.
Emily’s love for sharks began in an unexpected way. At the age of eight, she developed an intense fear of the animals after watching the 1975 blockbuster Jaws. Concerned by her fear, her father encouraged her to research sharks at a local library instead of relying on what she had seen in the film.
The experience transformed her perspective. The more she learned about sharks, the more fascinated she became, eventually replacing fear with admiration.
That passion led Emily to pursue a career as a shark biologist. She later acquired a shark adventure tour company in Venice, Florida, where she takes visitors on fossil-diving expeditions in search of ancient shark and megalodon teeth.
Emily says her tattoos tell the story of her journey with sharks. Many of the designs commemorate species she has encountered or discoveries she has made while exploring the ocean.
Her remarkable collection has now been officially recognised by Guinness World Records, celebrating her unique tribute to the marine animals that once terrified her.
