The Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Osun Amotekun Corps, has alleged that there is a plot to tarnish the image of the Corps and its leadership through the planting of ammunition at the private residence of its Commander, High Chief Dr Adekunle Isaac Omoyele.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Corps said it had received intelligence indicating that certain disgruntled individuals were allegedly planning to unlawfully plant ammunition at the Commander’s residence in an attempt to fabricate allegations against him and bring both the Corps Commander and the Osun Amotekun Corps into disrepute.
The Corps, however, emphasised that the intelligence remains an allegation but said it considered it necessary to alert the public, security agencies and the media because of the potential implications for public confidence and security.
According to the statement, the Osun Amotekun Corps has consistently operated within the confines of the law and remains committed to protecting lives and property across Osun State with professionalism, integrity and accountability.
The agency maintained that it would not be distracted by any alleged attempts to undermine its reputation or compromise its mandate of ensuring the safety and security of residents.
It called on relevant security agencies to take note of the intelligence, remain vigilant and carry out necessary investigations to prevent any unlawful act that could threaten public peace or damage the reputation of the Corps through what it described as fabricated evidence.
The Corps also urged residents of Osun State to disregard any misinformation or malicious propaganda that might arise from the alleged plot, expressing confidence that due process would expose any attempt to manipulate public perception through unlawful means.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice, transparency and the rule of law, the Osun Amotekun Corps thanked the people of Osun State for their continued trust, support and cooperation, assuring residents of its resolve to continue safeguarding lives and property across the state.
