In response to recent violent incidents, including killings and maiming at the Sagamu Interchange, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police has issued an urgent directive for immediate intervention.
Acting swiftly, a coordinated security operation was launched, involving multiple security agencies across the state.
The Joint Task Force, comprising operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, SWAT, OP MESA, Amotekun Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), spearheaded the operation. It was led by the VGN Southwest Zonal/Ogun State Commander, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Aare Shola Shodiyan.
During the operation, security personnel recovered two police uniforms and twelve machetes from illegal structures erected in the area. Several individuals found within these structures were apprehended and transferred to the State Police Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
Additionally, all illegal structures deemed to pose environmental and security threats were demolished and set ablaze by the Nigerian Police Force as part of the enforcement measures.
Following the successful execution of the raid, security personnel have been strategically deployed at key locations within the Sagamu Interchange and its environs to maintain peace, deter further criminal activities, and ensure the safety of residents and travelers.
