Over 50 Arrested in Clearance Operation at Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Government says more than 50 people have been arrested during a clearance operation at the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge.

According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation followed intelligence obtained from a video circulating online.

Officials said those arrested had been residing on and beneath the pedestrian bridge, converting sections of the structure into makeshift shelters.

Mr Wahab described the action as necessary to restore safety and curb criminal activity in the area. He stressed that pedestrian bridges are public infrastructure meant strictly for commuting and should not be unlawfully occupied.

The state government added that similar enforcement exercises would continue across Lagos to safeguard pedestrian bridges and other public facilities, in a bid to ensure the safety of residents and commuters.
