Lagos Explains Capital Allocation for Deputy Governor’s Office in 2026 Budget|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports claiming that N4.2 billion was allocated in the 2026 budget for the purchase of furniture and microphones for the Office of the Deputy Governor, describing the assertion as a misinterpretation of capital provisions.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget said the figure being circulated refers to the total capital allocation for the Office of the Deputy Governor, not to office furniture and audio equipment alone.

The ministry clarified that the total capital allocation for the office in the 2026 fiscal year stands at N4,247,816,006.

According to the statement, N4,077,816,006 of the amount is earmarked for the reconstruction of the Round House complex, a six-storey facility housing more than 50 offices.

The project includes structural upgrades, retrofitting works and the provision of alternative energy infrastructure.

It added that the remaining N170 million in the capital budget covers the purchase of office equipment, furniture and fittings, as well as other capital items.

The government said screenshots of the relevant budget master sheet had been attached to the statement for transparency and public review.

Reiterating its commitment to fiscal discipline and due process, the state government urged stakeholders and media organisations to seek clarification through appropriate channels to ensure accurate reporting.
