Nepal PM urges voters to take part in March 5 elections |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Nepal’s interim Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, has urged citizens to actively participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for March 5.

Addressing the nation ahead of the polls, Karki said public participation was crucial to steering the country toward political stability and economic prosperity.

“Casting your vote is not merely stamping an election symbol and securing victory for someone, but it is a decision about the future for yourself and your children,” she said.

Nepal is conducting fresh elections following the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of parliament, after unrest in September 2025.

Karki also called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to maintain discipline during the election silence period, which begins on Tuesday.

She cautioned against the spread of misinformation and disinformation on social media, stressing the need for peaceful and credible polls.

A total of 275 members will be elected to the House of Representatives in the March 5 vote.
