Kwankwaso Resigns from NNPP, Signals Political Realignment |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.

In a press statement released on Saturday, Kwankwaso described his decision as difficult but necessary, citing the need for “strategic realignment” in response to the evolving political landscape in Nigeria.

The former NNPP National Leader, who flew the party’s presidential flag in the 2023 general elections, said his move is aimed at identifying with “another political platform that offers the best opportunity to effectively change the nation.”

Kwankwaso expressed appreciation to the party leadership, including National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed, for their support during his time in the party. He also acknowledged the contributions of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, and party members across all levels.

He further extended gratitude to supporters of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, noting their dedication to the party’s vision and mission.

Despite his resignation, Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among political stakeholders to achieve a more prosperous Nigeria.

“We shall continue to collaborate and work together towards charting a better and more prosperous future for our dear nation,” he stated.

Kwankwaso’s next political move remains undisclosed, but analysts say his departure from the NNPP could significantly reshape political alignments ahead of future elections.
