Minister of Power Denies Resignation Rumours, Labels Circulating Letter Fake |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has not resigned from his position, contrary to reports circulating on social media.

This clarification was issued by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, who described the claim as false and misleading.

Tunji, who spoke to our correspondent via telephone late Tuesday, firmly dismissed the report alleging that Adelabu had stepped down to pursue political ambitions in Oyo State. He emphasized that the Minister remains fully committed to his duties.

The denial follows the circulation of a purported resignation letter allegedly addressed to Bola Tinubu and dated March 26, 2026. In the letter, Adelabu was said to have expressed intentions to resign in order to contest for the governorship of Oyo State.

According to the fake document, the Minister reportedly wrote that his resignation would allow him to dedicate more time and resources to his gubernatorial ambition.

The letter also conveyed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve and contribute to reforms in Nigeria’s power sector under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

However, Tunji reiterated that the letter is entirely fabricated and urged the public to disregard the misinformation.
