Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a 25-year-old woman,
Nafisa Usman, for allegedly supplying ammunition to bandits operating across several states.
Security sources said she was apprehended at a major motor park in Kano with 200 rounds of newly acquired ammunition. The consignment was reportedly transported from Lafia in Nasarawa State and was en route to Kankara in Katsina State.
According to the source, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that tracked her movements and activities.
Nafisa, said to be from Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, was intercepted before completing a delivery allegedly meant for bandits operating in the Kankara forest.
She reportedly confessed to being involved in the illegal arms trade for about two months. She also claimed the ammunition was given to her by an individual identified as “Teso,” who allegedly works with a military operative based in Lafia.
The suspect further admitted facilitating deals worth over ₦5 million through Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for transportation to Katsina State.
The supplies were allegedly intended for a bandit leader known as Mallam Haruna, as well as others identified as Buba and Abu, all said to be operating within the Kankara axis.
Nafisa also disclosed that she was introduced to the network by a Kano-based livestock trader identified as Sulaiman.
