The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
He extended warm congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.
The minister called on Nigerians to reflect on and embrace the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He further urged citizens to uphold the values of tolerance and unity, stressing their importance in fostering national cohesion.
Tunji-Ojo reiterated the government’s commitment to policies and actions aimed at achieving national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
He also wished Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
